A Message from the Head of Department

Computing & Informatics Department, Kinango Technical and Vocational College

Welcome to the Department of Computing and Informatics at Kinango Technical and Vocational College. It is my privilege to lead this dynamic department which is at the forefront of technology-driven training in Kwale County and the broader Coast region.

Our department focuses on providing trainees with practical, hands-on training in computing, information technology and related disciplines. Our goal is to equip students with the technical skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving technology industry — an industry that continues to create enormous opportunities for those who are properly prepared.

We offer programmes at three levels: ICT Technician Level 6, ICT Technician Level 5, and ICT Assistant Level 4 — each carefully designed to develop core competencies in computing and informatics in a progressive and structured manner. These programmes emphasise practical, job-ready skills in areas such as Software Development, Network Administration, Database Management, Computer Repair and Maintenance, and System Support.

Our approach centres on lab-based, project-oriented learning, giving trainees real-world experience through coding projects, hardware setup, network troubleshooting, and the use of industry-standard tools and software. This hands-on experience is supported by our highly trained and skilled trainers who deliver day-to-day instruction, ensuring that every student gains both solid theoretical knowledge and genuine practical expertise they can apply from day one in the workplace.

We warmly invite all prospective students, parents, industry partners and stakeholders to engage with our department. Whether you are looking to start a career in technology or upgrade your skills, the Department of Computing and Informatics at KTVC is your launchpad.
