About the Department

The Department of Building and Civil Engineering at Kinango Technical and Vocational College (KTVC) is committed to producing skilled, industry-ready construction professionals who contribute to Kenya's rapidly growing infrastructure sector. We offer a full suite of programmes — from Artisan level for KCPE holders through to Diploma level for KCSE graduates — covering Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Masonry, Plumbing, and Carpentry & Joinery.

Our training is delivered under the national Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework, accredited by the Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC) and regulated by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). Diploma programmes are also examined by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

Located in Kwale County — a coastal region experiencing rapid expansion driven by tourism, government infrastructure projects and private development — KTVC graduates are in high demand from construction firms, county governments, hotels and NGOs. Our department bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical site skills through modern workshops, on-site training and structured industrial attachments.
